Field Evaluation --
When electrical inspectors call for field evaluation, time is critical.

eti field evaluations are often requested when a local electrical inspector cannot determine the acceptability of an installation because the equipment is "unevaluated". This occurs when:

  • New products do not have a recognized laboratory marking
  • Equipment has been modified from the original manufactured product
  • Used equipment is being relocated

Time is critical because inspectors usually require testing and safety evaluations prior to initial startup.

With over 25 years of focused industry experience working with inspection authorities and industry, eti has earned the respect of electrical inspectors and end users alike. We provide fast response to make sure your unevaluated equipment and systems meet recognized product safety standards and are suitable for installation in your intended application.

Inspections Include: Test Procedures Typically Include:
  • Overall construction
  • Enclosures
  • Grounding
  • Damaged components
  • Electrical clearances
  • Guarding of live parts in normal operation and during maintenance or service
  • Wiring methods and ratings
  • Equipment drawings and applicable markings
  • Nameplate information
  • Suitability if the equipment for the intended environment
  • Heat rise testing
  • Insulation resistance testing
  • Dielectrical withstand testing
  • Leakage current testing
  • Input voltage and current to validate the nameplate data
  • Functional testing of safety circuits, interlocks and Emergency Off actuators
eti can test and evaluate your electrical products for conformance with all applicable industry standards.

Inspection authorities know that once the Certificate of Conformity and authorization to apply the eti Label to your product has been issued, it has been properly inspected, test and evaluated for full compliance for product safety standards and installed in accordance with National Electrical Code.

An eti Evaluated Label may also be applied at the point of manufacture, when custom-made or foreign-made equipment is being produced or modified for an unusual or unique process. The end user may opt for eti, as a recognized third party, to evaluate the product at the factory, on site after installation, or a combination of these locations.

In either case, an eti Evaluated Label applied to the equipment signifies that the product meets the essential requirements of the applicable product safety standard of applicable portions of several product safety standards where one single standard does not exist.
